KBS's Jang Young Shil kicks off with good start at 11.6% ratings.

KBS's first scientific drama Jang Young Shil 장영실 starts off with good ratings at 11.6%.
According to audience measurement company Nielsen Korea, the first broadcast on 2nd January- the drama ratings were at two digits. The predecessor 'Jingbirok' was even 1.1% points lower than the first time viewership numbers at 10.5%.

MBC's My Daughter Geum Sa Wol recorded at 28.5% while SBS's I Have a Lover recorded at 6.8%. So it's not bad for Jang Young Shil to be on 2nd place.

The first episode featured young Jang Young Shil played by child actor Jang Yoon Suk being a slave under the government. Being a kid, he loved to watch the stars in the sky and his curiosity eventually made him into a very important figure in the history. His father Jang Seung Hwi (played by Kim Myung Soo) is also a slave named his son Jang Young Shil - it literally means the name blooms and bears a fruit.

The adult role will be played by actor Song Il Gook whereby Jang will be a prominent figure - the best scientist assisting King Sejong (played by Kim Sang Kyung). Jang Young Shil will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 pm
