Actors Park Seo Joon (27), Park Hyung Sik (24) and Go Ah-Ra (25) are confirmed to star in the KBS2TV periodic Shilla kingdom drama- Hwarang: The Beginning.
Hwarang is a group of male elite warriors during the Shilla dynasty. They were not only skillful in martial arts, sword fighting but they were considered 'flower boys' means good looking elite warriors. Hwa (화) literally means flower and Rang (랑) means warrior.
1500 years ago in the capital of Shilla Kingdom- Seorabeol has recruited a bunch youthful warriors with skills and looks. Park Seo Joon will play the role of Sun Woo Rang who has wisdom and appearance. Meanwhile Park Hyung Shik will play as Sam Maek Jong who later becomes King Jinheung. In order to avoid threats of assassination, his Queen Dowager mother send him into Hwarang-do. Go Ah-Ra plays as A-Ro- the love interest of the two men.
The writers are preparing one of the best and new Shilla Seorabeol as the background story and when the love with relationship sets in, it is more energetic than the current age youth with modern sensibility.
Note: one of the most successful Hwarang member was General Kim Yushin who served during Queen Seondeok and King Munmu's period. He was a great and brave fighter.
The Hwarang system continues to Goryeo dynasty until King Taejong established Joseon dynasty steps in and eliminated the group from the public.
