With production costs close to KRW$10 billion in the periodic film 'Haeohwa' 해어화- director Park Hong Shik - the main lead actress Han Hyo Joo (aged 29) has the power of portraying the role Jung So Yul.
The title "Hae-uh-hwa" is then translated to English title as 'Love, Lies' starring Han Hyo Joo, Yoo Yoon Seok, Chun Won Hee, Jang Young Nam, Park Sung Woong and Ryu Hye Young.
Han made her debut as an actress after winning in a teenage beauty pageant. She then started her acting career in Non Stop-5 and shot her fame in PD Yoon Seok Ho's series of drama 'Spring Waltz' in 2006. Now Han shows a different side of acting playing as a gisaeng. As Han looks back into her life- she is not just confined to bright lovely image actress. The role So Yul is a tough one where a gisaeng dreams to become a singer. And she is proud of who she was, she was betrayed by her lover, friends who were jealous of her and those tragic lives in that era.
Han pointed out there is always something new to look and learn in the acting industry. She takes it as a new challenge and definitely a new 'outlook' to her image. Love,Lies is set during the Japanese occupation in 1940s where there were many forms of music. The ambitious gisaeng So Yul has danced and entertained the elite men during the Joseon dynasty decides to try something new. So Yul along with her best friend Yeon Hee were the best trainees in their field.
The famous music composer Yeon Woo tries to get So Yul to sing his songs but is enchanted by Yeon Hee's angelic voice. Soon Yeon Woo is falling in love with Yeon Hee causing the rage in So Yul so she takes extreme measures to ensure she gets the man and career. There is a morale in the story- so what is it?
This is a sad story bring us a piece of advice- that is do not lose yourself and regretting in the past.We must keep to our identity and preserve our values.
