The 5 overgrown men of 1N2D with the production staff headed to the cold bitter winter season in Harbin,China. They were welcomed by Chinese fans at the airport and feeling proud that they are well known in overseas too. Jongmin received a bouquet of flowers and they were arrived late at night in the main street of the Harbin market central street. It was freezing at -10 degrees and everyone was rugged up in thick puffy parkas and long-johns.
First game is bukbolbok on sleeping in the tent outside the main streets and the winners get to sleep in the cozy warm hotel room. Game is rock-paper-scissors to death! Each time a team loses, they have to remove a layer of clothing until they practically go a bit naked!
At first Jongmin-Defconn was heading the game but soon the tables turned when Taehyun and Jun Young started defeating them. Jongmin literally have to remove his shoes and socks while standing on the frozen ground. Defconn was rather naked except his underwear while hiding behind a frozen pair of jeans inside the tent. Viewers were bewildered and passerby's were taking photos of them while laughing away. At last Jun Young and Tae Hyun were declared as winners so they marched into their luxury hotel room which was once stayed by an American journalist during the communist area of Chairman Mao.
Taehyun was kind hearted to give them some hot drinks before sending them out to sleep in the cold tent. It was -27 degrees and way colder than in Seoul for Jong min and Defconn.
They hid in their sleeping bags all rugged up in parkas and jackets but still it was way too cold to sleep outside. The two were awaken by drunkards in the middle of the night and PD went to wake them up at 3.23 am telling them it's way too cold to sleep outside. They might be frozen to death before next morning arrives. It was exceptional so the two of them get to sleep on the warm floor of the hotel room. The morning sun came where locals woke up in the cold bitter winter to get ready for work. Somehow these 4 men woke up instantly due to different countries. They were treated to a cup of hot Jasmine tea while we are missing someone- the clown of the group- Jun Ho! He had to fly in 12 hours from Seoul-Beijing to Harbin without much sleep. Tae Hyun suggested Jun Ho should sleep outside or perhaps strip to partial naked as a punishment. The group headed to St Sophia Cathedral near the Russian-Chinese Market area. The Cathedral is beautiful and old quarters were built in Baroque, Byzantine style or "Russian style". It is like a mini version of Russia Central Square. Harbin is also famous for its beautiful ice-sculpture festivals during winter where it's illuminated. It's considered one of the ice-cities in China and also famous for its sweet sour pork fritter- Guo Bao Rou (as what Koreans called tangsuyuk)
They were interviewed by a local TV station where Jun Young sails smoothly in Chinese language since he is rather fluent in it. Jong Min struggles and at the end they told him to introduce himself as 'I am a Fool' in Chinese. Hah! They were given a mission of Brunch at a local restaurant lasted for 4 generations through 100 years of business. Interesting...
So they were to order each a Chinese local dish from the menu- purely in Chinese language! Of course Jun Young could read a fair bit of Chinese so he pretended not to tell them. The rest have to make up on their own and test their own luck. Turns out Jong Min ordered a cold pork salad which was rather good, Defconn has glass noodles with braised pork belly, Taehyun ordered Russian lamb chops, Jun Young of all ordered incorrectly the smoked pork tongue and Junho had the smoked Russian rabbit dish! Jun Young regretted of what he ordered but still he ate it. Tae Hyun jokingly stuck the pork tongue on his mouth giving everyone the goosebumps as if he is sticking out his tongue.
Junho suggested they must try the Guobaorou since it's a famed dish in Harbin. PD tells them they have to try their luck by pointing left/right with eyes covered. The other dish apart from Guobarou is a tortoise dish! Everyone freaked out upon seeing the entire tortoise head and legs cooked in the dark sauce. Disgusting! Indeed the Chinese eat anything that moves on earth. Defconn and Jun Ho were the "lucky" ones to have a taste of the tortoise dish.
Next episode will feature them be heading to a colder section of Harbin- the border of China-Russia! Yikes!
