"I had to fight against the attack, see if I had to defend myself, and see if my opponent was acting. I tried not to lose my nerves."
Actor Lee Byung-hun, who played the Choi Myung Gil in the movie "The Fortress- Namhansansung" (director Hwang Dong-hyuk) said, "It is not a story about a fiction like 'Gwanghae' or 'Memories of the Sword' but it is depicting a real history figure. I have to portray it well. I have to deliberately imagined the feelings of Choi Myung Gil and played it out."
On 25th September at Seoul Yongsan-gu CGV i-Park Mall, fellow actors Lee Byung Hun, Kim Yun Suk, Park Hae Il, Go Soo, Park Hee Sun and Jo Woo Jin were present for the press conference.
This film is the original work of Kim Hoon's novel about a man who wandered into Namhansan (The Fortress) during his illness and suffered for how to respond to the demands of the Qing Dynasty.
Lee is a fiery actor and passionate in his acting skills. Lee throws himself into the situation and plays it very well. Every act has a different style and unpredictable. Kim is also showing the good side of his performance. He plays as Kim Sang Hun - good loyalist who claims that it is better for him to choose death than to bow his head to the barbarians.
Kim mentioned that he did not know that the scenario was changed by mistake, he prepared for it, memorized the dialogue with the scenario only to realise that the scenario has changed. He had a hard time learning the script again in the important scene. However he was able to improve and change it. It seems that he pulled it through with the help of Lee.
The Fortress will be released on October 3rd in local cinemas in South Korea.
