Lee Byung Hun's Namhansanseong film in London Asian Film Festival.

The new South Korean film 'Namhansanseong- The Fortress' directed by PD Hwang Dong Hyuk will be screened at the opening ceremony of the 2nd London Asian Film Festival (LEAFF).

The Film Festival Secretariat has invited 50 movies from eight countries in South East Asia and selected "The Fortress" as the opening film for this year. This year, 18 films were invited including South Korea's three films - The Fortress, Battleship Island and Park Yeol.

The Fortress is based on the same name novel by Kim Hoon and depicts a story that takes place when the ill citizens of Joseon Dynasty were isolated from Namhansanseong. Main casts include Lee Byung-hun, Kim Yoon-seok, Park Hae Il, Park Hee-soon and Go Soo. The movie is directed by director Hwang Dong Hyuk who directed Miss Granny and The Crucible (Silenced).


This year 's film festival introduces seven episodes of stories about the time that Asian directors look at through the theme of' Awareness of Time'. Through the 'LEAFF SELECTION' section, director Ryu Seung-wan's 'Battleship Island, director Lee Jun Ik's  'Park Yeol' will be screened. In the 'Women's Story' section of the story about Asian women, 'The Table'  by PD Kim Jae-kwan) and Jane (director Jo Hyun-hoon), which was released in May this year will be screened to the audience.

Meanwhile, the 2010 London Asian Film Festival will be held for 11 days from the 19th October.
