Review on TVB drama Will Power 法外風雲

Over the long New Year weekend to 2016, I had nothing much to do at home except to watch old series online. Then I came across this 2013 TVB drama Will Power 法外風雲 starring Wayne Lai, Moses Chan, Fala Chen, Christine Ng, Jason Chan, Chung King Fai, Vincent Wong, Sire Ma, Elliot Yue and Susan Tse.

First impression- oh no! Another court law and order drama? But then it wasn't that bad. Funny as it is with scenes where two well known lawyers Morris (played by Chan) and Wilson (played by Lai) are so competitive in whatever they do. They always meet in high court and tend to overthrow each other in order to win the case. Their court cases were always presided by the female judge Sheila (played by Ng) whom is fair and honest.

Sheila happens to be the ex-girlfriend of Morris and also the ex-wife of Wilson. She has nothing against them for she always seek then real truth for the cases. Wilson has never given up on Sheila and hopes to reconcile back with her.

As for Morris, due to his huge debts he is forced to work under his old mentor Shum Yik Mor (played by Chung). Shum is cunning and sly in handling his cases. He knows what he wants and starts getting Morris to deal with even cases related to triads..etc. His daughter Eugene (played by Fala) also a lawyer is going out with one of the tycoon's son Gilbert (played by Wong). Eugene starts realizing Gilbert is just a jerk with no ambitions. Morris takes the opportunity to win over Eugene's heart.

There are plenty of funny cases and mostly involved with will and real estate division. Lawyer Lo Sum Po (played by Yue) is upright and honest. He hires Wilson after seeing him winning cases contesting in wills. Wilson is anxious to know who Sheila is meeting and what she's doing after work. This causes her to get agitated while telling him off. One day a case involved blackmailing Morris for the case he lost and the assault on Sheila by a gangster Highlight, Wilson decided to take the matter in his own hands- of course with the help of Lo, Morris and Ma-sir (police). Somehow the two lawyers were back to good terms and helping each other when it comes to relationship.

I crack up whenever I see the comical reaction from Morris and Wilson when they were lying on the hospital beds waiting for their 'women' to visit them.

The story goes on with more intrigue cases where Wilson's underling Ka Ming (played by Jason) is the real son to the rich late tycoon Sung. In fact he and Ka Cheung (played by Power Chan) share the same father while Gilbert is the real illegitimate son bore by Mrs. Sung (played by Tse).
