SBS drama Jackpot concludes with low ratings.

On Tuesday night, althought SBS drama Jackpot (Daebak) ends its final episode with 2 digit ratings at 10%. During episode 19, the ratings dropped till 7% but slowly it picked up again. During the first episode broadcast it recorded at 11.8% and average viewership of 9.3%. The highest rating the drama recorded was 12.2% on 29th March during the 2nd episode.

Viewers were brought to the finale whereby Baek Dae Gil (Jang Geun Suk) has successfully punished the traitor Lee In Jwa (Jeon Kwang Ryul) to death. The biggest nemesis is gone, even though the two brothers are from the same parents, both walked different ways to the grassroots and sovereignty of the country due to the differences in status.

Dae Gil's full pledge to protect the citizens for a better nation while Yeoning's 3 dimensional feeling from the playboy prince to a serious intelligent ruler. Despite all of this, Yeongjo flipped over some of the rebellions to desperately keep the power of the throne. The result was ruthless and dogmatic similar to his late father King Sukjong. Dae Gil laid down his sword and government position to carry a peaceful simple life away from politics and power. The unavoidable death of Consort Choi and untimely death of Dam Seo was just a passing cloud. The female characters were rather controversial and romance was very little in this story.

It has been a while since fans last seen Jang in a leading role drama. It was also a turning point of young actor Yeo to be portraying in an adult leading role as well. Along with veterans Jeon Kwang Ryul and Choi Min Soo, the 4 have digested their characters very well. Yeo looked good for acting beyond his age. He has that charismatic look which is beyond the limits of the spectrum child actor who has matured into a fine actor. As much as Jang looked good in hanbok and guardsman costume, he's done well in Dae Gil's role.

And I must stress I give hats off to loyal bodyguard Kim Chae Gun (played by Ahn Gil Sang), he is fantastic as he's been protecting the royal family for generations. Love his character and action scenes too!
